Steady Progress
Things continue to move at a steady, progressive pace. The past couple of weeks have consisted of putting together images of paintings and presentation of a booth display. These images will now be used for applying to various art shows in the area. Additionally, a submission has been made to a local magazine for cover art consideration. Any confirmed dates resulting from recent submission will be shared on the site under the ‘Events’ tab. In the meantime, I continue to be lead to finalize a few works currently in progress, as well as begin the Jamaican series; these projects will resume this week. Please visit the ‘Works in Progress’ page, in order to see what is going on at the easel.

A New Piece
I really enjoy the Baroque era. The art during this time, with its "less complex, more realistic and more emotionally affecting" characteristics, draws me in every time. Some time back I wrote a piece entitled “Look UP” and I was looking for a work of art to go with it. When searching, I came across a sketch by Guido Reni and really identified with the concept. For months I have had the image in visible places. and recently in my studio. Yesterday morning I was really stirred to paint it. As I painted the piece, the style went deeper than emotion and resonated within my spirit. Reni was seemingly effective in meeting the objective of the Baroque era in which he painted other works and drew this sketch. Baroque was encouraged in an effort to return those in the 17th century back to spirituality. Perhaps this is the actual reason why I connect with this style. The works go beyond technical accuracy and even emotion, and move into the spiritual. I most likely will not post my rendition of Reni’s work until it is finished, which may be very soon.

Getting Closer
So much goes into creating a social network presence, having an intuitive website, while at the same time effectively showcasing the works of art held so dear to one's heart. While creating art and being creative may be the preferred zone for many artists, obtaining a business sense is also essential. The corporate experience has been helpful during this process, but "Home Business for Dummies" has been the most helpful. Truly. Get past the title and it is a helpful small business book, especially for one not possessing a business degree. I am also thankful for all the web-design that has taken place over the course of the past twelve hours - it has been a skill builder to say the least. My hope now is, that any visitor to ShanonsArt.com will sense the creativity and Spirit behind the process that took place. Please visit and let me know what you think.

New Year's Eve 2010
Here comes 2011! I can hardly believe it. It has been an amazing year and an amazing past few months. Tomorrow is the big day and time will soon tell exactly how reality will unfold, as it relates to what will be accomplished through the art and site. Regardless, the best foot has been set forward and it has been a great experience throughout the process. Having a vision become a reality is one of the most exciting yet anxious times to be had. Much work, time and determination has to be involved, or it is too easy to push things back or off altogether. Now that much of the business side of things have been taken care of, many paintings are awaiting being created and I am looking forward to doing so. Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!
.
I pray everyone has a Blessed Christmas! While spending time with family and loved ones, and sharing the gift of warmth and love during this season, please keep those less fortunate in your thoughts. While we know this time of year is not about stockings, trees, or presents, but the One who came to save us all, there are many who are unable to celebrate in all that He has done. May His ultimate gift be what is in our hearts this season, and may we be willing to share His gift with others. Merry Christmas and God Bless!

Pieces in Progress
An additional session on the Suzies piece may well have completed it. There are a few details that may be necessary to complete, but it is worth having a look to let me know what you think.
Additionally, I began a piece simply titled Sunflower. This piece is from a photograph taken in my garden this past Summer. I have been waiting to be able to paint it, and time allowed for it to be started today. To restate the site post, the first layer was laid today and the next will add more depth and detail.
January 1st is quickly approaching. The plans are still in place and progress is currently on target to "launch" the site to a broader audience. Both anxious and excited, it will certainly be interesting to see how 2011 takes shape.
