The Studio

I was painting this evening and decided to share a photograph of the "studio" where I paint. It is a nice, cozy, little space and it works at the moment.

I will be working on a few more layers of Surrender and Peace over the next few days, as well as completing more spontaneous pieces - such as the one I started this evening. You can view this piece here. I apologize ahead of time for the quality of the image.

Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thankful for Progress

The web-design is moving along quite nicely. There are a couple more components that need to be added, primarily the payment option, and the site will be “rolled out” to a broader public status. Once all components are in place, the site will go public via Facebook, Twitter, and Vimeo on January 1, 2011. Thank you to the ladies at Crossroads Bank for your advice and suggestions regarding credible resources!

Preparations are also being made to apply to art festivals in the area. Additionally, decisions regarding a solo exhibit date and potential location are also in the “works”. Dates for exhibitions will be announced on ShanonsArt.com. In the meantime…painting, painting, and more painting is taking place. Look for “Works in Progress” to be completed, as well as “Works Recently Completed”. Please leave a comment if you have suggestions for shows to apply for in the area, or suggestions for online communities to become a part of…suggestions are always appreciated!

Thank you and take care,
Shanon

Official Business

It is official; Shanon's Art & Inspirations is an established business. The foundation is being meticulously laid, prior to making works and the site completely available to the public.

This is an exciting time and I am looking forward to see where the fruits of these efforts, as well as the artwork which is and will be created, will go. Who will be touched? And just what magnitude will be had?

Please keep in touch as to what works are currently in progress, where artwork may be viewed in the future, and how to go about purchasing a work which seemingly captures a thought, feeling, or place in your heart.

Take care,
Shanon

Peace

I began this piece a few years ago. I had taken photographs of the Fall leaves and the brilliant blue sky, and was inspired to capture the feeling. That crisp, refreshing "AAAHHHH", that accommodates Fall.

The figure for this composition was also referenced from a photograph. However, I placed it in a corner for the years that followed. Recently, as I considered how this piece should evolve, I became compelled to place the woman in a white garment. This was successfully accomplished, as well as some foreground work - which may take more definite shape in the days to come.

The piece, while it seemingly possesses the same essence as before, now reflects the true Peace I have ultimately come to know in my God. The painting is still in progress and can be viewed here. I believe this oil painting will be better than I had initially envisioned.

Surrender

I began a piece a few weeks back. Actually, it was started this past spring. The composition will most likely be titled Surrender. The piece goes with the title. It is a self-portrait, but not in the traditional sense. It is a picture of surrendering my life to Jesus Christ, and what that moment was like for me.

The composition of this piece started out as an image I constantly have in my soul, regarding the moment I truly surrendered my life to the Lord. I took a photograph of myself outside, in the springtime. This is significant to the piece, because Spring marks new life. As one may see in the piece, the grass is green and the sky is blue, while the trees appear to be dead in the background. Again, this new life in Christ is reflected by the season in which I chose to be the setting for the piece.

I am anxiously awaiting to see how this piece will evolve, and ultimately what it will look like. Please have a look and let me know your thoughts.

Take care,
Shanon
